We’ve been talking about it for some time, but here it is! Our big announcement! Are you ready?!
((Insert drum roll here))
In a few days we will be boarding a plane bound for Europe! YES! Europe! Walks With Rama is going international! Are you excited?! I know I am! Part of our re-branding is to include more posts that are geared toward what we eventually want to do, which is travel more, so that we can bring you beautiful hiking destinations from around the globe. If you don’t already follow us on social media, you’ll want to do so now so that you can follow all the awesomeness as we pack up our hiking boots and embark on a multi-country tour shooting video for an upcoming travel series.
Together with my husband (who is a regular international traveler), we will take you along with us as we collect footage and memories on this trip. Unfortunately, we will not be taking Rama. I wish she could come along, but I prefer not to fly the dogs in cargo, and customs is a bitch when taking dogs into a new country, let alone several. So, until I can afford a private jet, she will remain at home with the pet sitter. I know, boo hiss. But she will be happier.
Yesterday we posted the following teaser photo on our social media accounts and asked our readers to guess where they thought it was that we were going. One of our readers guessed correctly! We are headed to Wales! Snowdonia National Park covers 827 square miles and was designated the third national park in Britain in 1951. Half the park’s surface is covered by nine different mountain ranges, with the highest peaks reaching approximately 3,000 feet.
Along with celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in England, we will also be tracing our roots. My husband’s ancestors come from Wales, and a large portion of mine from the Middlesex area. So in a way, it’s like we are going home. We will also be visiting some popular sites both in the countryside as well as the city. Urban hiking–yes! And did I mention this trip will be without children?
Let that sink in a minute.
As I’ve been working on this blog post, I’ve been interrupted oh, I don’t know, about fifty-five thousand times, with everything from requests for food to “she’s touching me,” someone shrieking about a dog stealing their toy, a bulletin board with a calendar and kid pictures buckling under the weight of yet one more piece of artwork (and no one rushing to pick it up), a proclamation of boredom and an unsolicited rendition of the Spongebob Squarepants theme song. Yeah, people. We need this. I’m not even done packing for myself yet, but you better believe the kids’ suitcases are completely packed and ready to go.
We hope you will come along with us on this once in a lifetime journey as we explore the magic and splendor of Europe. No passport needed, just watch our social media for updates and more destinations!
