This morning Siren joined me for a road trip to retrieve Rama from the repro vet where she’s been for a week now. Her surgical AI was done yesterday and she is doing very well. I decided to take Siren since she’s had a bit of a uti lately and I didn’t want her to perhaps soil her crate and have that to come home to, plus she needs more socializing and travel time at this point than Cairo does.
It’s about an hour and forty-five minute trip give or take, during which Siren didn’t make a sound. She occasionally sat up to look around, but mostly she just slept. She got a potty break when we arrived at the vet’s and when it was time for me to go inside to get Rama, Siren decided she didn’t want to get in the crate. Even tossing a few treats in there wasn’t working, so we did the old heave-ho and I had to put her in there myself. She was not happy about it, but Rama needs more room and is recovering from surgery so I laid a blanket in the back for her to stretch out on and get comfy.
Rama was so happy to be going home she raced all the way out the door and got right up in the van. She sniffed around, wagging her nubby tail excitedly before finally settling down on her blanket.
We will return in a few weeks for an ultrasound, so until then I stare at her incessantly and try to pick out any sign of possible pregnancy. For anyone interested, here is a great article on AI in dogs.
After checking out the house, dog yard and other dogs, Rama settled in her crate for a well-deserved nap.
We are excited to be participating in this week’s Pet Parade Blog Hop, hosted by Rascal and Rocco and co-hosts Jan’s Funny Farm, Basil’s Blog, Love Is Being Owned By A Husky and Barking From The Bayou.
