Thursday Barks & Bytes & Thoughtless Thursday–Dog Room Dreaming

Yesterday the dog room got a once over.  It looks so much better in there.  The eucalyptus/spearmint solution that I spray the floors and walls with leaves it smelling so fresh and clean.  I’m a firm believer in Odo-Ban, so all crates and the outdoor kennel area are sprayed daily, but inside it is a little overpowering so the eucalyptus/spearmint mixture is nice to finish with.  I even rearranged some wall art and put up the adorable Corso wall hangings I purchased at the Orlando dog shows.

The crates have seen better days.  I don’t have crate-destroyers per say, but from leaning on the sides they are beginning to bow outward.  I usually get my crates secondhand from other dog folks I know or garage sales; wherever I see one that is a good deal, the right size, etc.  I miss the old crates.  They were super sturdy.  Heavy and a pain in the ass to haul around and set up, but sturdy.  I have one of these old style crates and I love it.  I need to replace the others and I’d rather not go with the airline style (those newer ones are also flimsy nowadays).  I prefer something different in the house.  I’ve been eyeballing aluminum crates for some time.  I’d love some of these:

Oh, to dream.  They are pretty expensive.  I’d need several of these and I just don’t have that cash right now.  Too many things on the To-Do List that require capital.  I’d love to learn to weld and try to make my own.  Maybe one of the companies that builds them would let me apprentice for a day?  Hm…

While we’re dreaming I need a Sprinter and some more land.  Here are a few of our dream “wants” for the future:

That’s just a few for now.  How about you?  What is on your wish list?

    That spray sounds good.

I use it in the mop water as well. It is very fresh smelling, plus the eucalyptus has antibacterial properties.

I’d love to live with that view off my beautiful back porch that is just outside my enormous master bedroom in my fabulous mansion and…wait, we are daydreaming aren’t we?!? Have a great day!

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks a Sprinter van would be a great idea. Imagine the space for the dogs in the back and camping would be really easy.

YES. Our current van will be paid off in 2015 so I will be looking into a Sprinter or similar van. Hopefully if I get a stripped down model it will offset the conversion costs.

Oh, I have an entire Pinterest board filled with dog room ideas! One day when the military doesn’t have us moving so much I’ll be slowly making my dream room 🙂

BOL at the above comment! As long as we are daydreaming, can I have a SIberian Husky farm, while living in a mansion with a personal spa in my room, for both the dogs and myself?!
Thanks for linking up to thoughtless thursday!

Technical pond. That is on our wish list. 🙂 You are right the crates today are so flimsy. Our dogs tend to beat on them when excited which is not great for the crate over time. I have one old crate that is super sturdy. I wish I could get more of those.

Happy birthday to your dad. 🙂

Thanks so much for joining the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop.
